On May 2, 2024, a draft of Regulation 25 was distributed to all
Conservation Commissioners for review, with discussion scheduled for
the May 9, 2024 meeting.
The regulation will cover the town of Mashpee.
Local town bylaws, as regulatory instruments, aim to be stricter than State
regulations, a goal of the current revision.
At the May 9, 2024 public meeting, many supported the revised
regulation, but the Popponessett Beach Association (PBA) raised concerns
and requested to wait for DEP's completion of performance standards.
PBA's chief objection is the requirement for "raze and replace," which
mandates demolition if updates or renovations do not meet the 50% rule
based on floodplain coverage and home value.
Members agreed to propose regular joint meetings between committees to
ensure alignment, communication, and consistency, suggesting the Select
Board facilitate these meetings.

COMMITTEE REVIEW

Review EOC’s Mission, Vision, and Values
o EOC Mission Statement Edits: Committee Members
Further discussion to follow with the understanding between Members
that this will be moved up to the beginning of the next meetings agenda.
o EOC Priorities: 5 Key Issues – items
Further discussion to follow.

UPDATES

Water Quality Updates Fish Consumption/Swimming
o Johns Pond - Children under 12, people who are nursing, pregnant, or may
become pregnant should not consume any fish.
