16 Great Neck RoadNorth
Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649
Mr. Lehrer has not been contacted about this study at all. He can certainly make sure David
Weeden is notified. Ms. Waygan would like Mr. Lehrer to formally notify the THPO that the
study has been arranged. David Weeden can call PAL lab and state he will be present.
Ms. Faulkner noted Brian Yergatian's report didn't mention the archaeological assessment. We
should ask him to edit that and add David Weeden be present during the study. The traffic
study is a mitigation, but she is unsure if a stop sign and painted line would mitigate traffic in
that area. The DPW might be the best contact for that question. A streetlight is being added at
Osprey Court which will add to safety. Two structures are being torn down which will disturb
that land. That open space should be revegetated.
Ms. Waygan would like a revegetation plan, the applicant wants to add much, which she stated
is not good enough. It is supposed to be brought back to a natural state.
Mr. Balzarini would like to partner with the Tribe on this. When he was a little kid, they were
told it was sacred land that couldn't be walked on. There is a lot of history in that land. He
would like CPC money to purchase it, he doesn't know if it's feasible.
Mr. Oakley stated if the THPO is present we will know what is there.
Ms. Waygan elaborated that the traffic mitigation was more for the other intersection, it was
referenced as a four -legged intersection but it's really two T's, the entrance to New Seabury
where Red Brook Road takes a right and Great Oak takes over.
Ms. Waygan spoke to DPW Director, and the Town has not studied that intersection or planned
any improvement, but there is a possibility of adding another stop sign to make it a three-way
stop. The other issue being that it is not a perfect right angle so she is unsure if that will impact
or if the neighborhood even wants that. For a crosswalk there would need to be a stop sign
with flashing lights. Right now, we want to hear some ideas for that intersection, and this
engineering firm has many employees that can tackle this, or the Board can hire someone and
charge the applicant, which doesn't make sense. We have time, this will continue to July 17tn.
Jewel Blake- She is confused as to the order of things. She would like clarification if the
archeological study will be done first.
Ms. Waygan is assuming that, she is adding as a condition, but they are doing it now and it
doesn't take long. The results might be in by the next meeting. She is hoping if they have
findings that things go into the custody or land of the tribe, she has no idea.
Tom Stark- He has some questions. What is the zoning in the area on Red Brook Road and
Great Oak Road? It is his understanding they are one -acre parcels, and this applicant is
making 16,OOOs.f. parcels.
i
