ABOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES - 3 - NOVEMBER 13 , 1990
IV CORRESPONDENCE:
A. Memo from Kevin Harrington relative to our budget:
in addition to the usual budget preparations , he has
requested an impact statement on the reduction of
services anticipated.
B. Helene had a memo from a meeting she had attended re-
lative to the town' s consideration of conversion to a
Centrax phone service. This conversion should result
in lower telephone expense. Additionally, one should
be able to transfer calls from one town agency to an-
other, which cannot be done with the present system.
V NEW BUSINESS :
A. Ondrea reported that Ruth Kowal, the new Eastern Divi-
sion Administrator has been appointed, and would soon
be assuming her duties. She is the former Ruth Brown
Chamberlin, and has some cape connections, therefore,
we hope to receive some preferential treatment.
B. A. Rockwood suggested that we should begin to prepare
for the master plan for the library. He suggested
that this would require a special committee to meet
separately, at different times from the regular Trustees
Meeting. A committee of four was tentatively suggested:
Helene, Ondrea, Bill Towner, and A. Rockwood.. B. Towner
added that one of the requirements of such a committee
would be to have as much statistical background as is
available lined up to start with. It was recommended
that Helene be designated as chairperson of the committee.
Some possible meeting dates will be discussed, and the
matter was put on hold until this group would be together
on Thursday.
C. A. Tanneyhill presented the possibility of daytime meet-
ings as opposed to evening meetings. She brought up the
problems associated with night-time driving. Following
discussion, the issue was placed on hold.
D. Helene introduced the matter of the lost-card charge of
. 50 . in Helen' s opinion, the fifty cent charge would
not cover the cost to the library for a new card. Ondrea
indicated that this has become a perennial problem. After
discussion, it was recommended that the fee be increased
to $2 .00 . The recommendation was seconded, and unanimously
agreed to increase the library card replacement fee to
$2 .00 . It was so moved.
Having no further business before it, the meeting adjourned at '
7:50 p. m.
NEXT MEETING: TUESDAY, DECEMBER 11, at 10 AM
Respectfully submitted,
n
Barbara Ganno
