SUBJECT: Minutes of the Meeting of the Mashpee Americans with Disabilities Act
Committee,November 18, 2004
The Mashpee Americans with Disabilities Act Committee met Thursday, November 18,
2004 at Mashpee Town Hail Meeting Room#2.
Members in attendance:
William.Dundon
Marilyn Farren
James Marr
Patricia Parolski
Beverly Wooldridge
Robert Wooldridge
The minutes of the October 21, 2004 meeting were reviewed and accepted.
Marilyn reported Richard Stevens, Building Inspector had prior commitments on the third
Thursday and would be unable to attend. He will be attending once we return to our
regular meeting schedule of the second Thursday of the month.
OLD BUSINESS:
Jim Marr revised the proposed letter to the Town Manager regarding improving access to
Town Nall. The new draft addresses access to all Town buildings, i.e., Archives, Library,
etc., as well as Town Hall and also acknowledges need for additional funding. Marilyn
mentioned the new Assistant Building Inspector had experience with these issues in
Plymouth and may have some suggestions for approach to funding. The letter will be r
i
signed at the December 09, 2004 meeting.
Trish Parolski has been discussing school access with maintenance supervisor.
r
The Building Inspector has not had an opportunity to take up the Mashpee Commons
access problems raised in Bob's memo. Marilyn indicated he would discuss the situation
at the December meeting. Bob reported a brief meeting with Mr. Tom Feronti,
Construction Coordinator for Mashpee Commons. Bob questioned the absence of signs
for the four new handicap spaces behind Ann Taylor. Mr. Feronti indicated the signs
were available and would be installed as soon as the appropriate posts were procured.
Bob did not pursue this or other issues with Mr. Feronti since Richard Stevens would
soon be taking up all the access issues with Commons officials.
Bill reported the owner/manager of Cape Cod Rehabilitation in Summerfield Park had
taken action to repair the crumbling sidewalk approach to the building that had been an
obstacle to wheelchair-bound patients.
