;4 MINUTES January 14 , 1993 5 BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> *****OLD BUSINESS***** <br /> Litigation - Commonwealth of MA vs. Town of Mash ee <br /> Mr. Greelish directed Mr. McQuaid to contact Town Coun- <br /> sel as the Attorney General's office is expecting a response <br /> by January 25, 1993 . "I would recommend Board members meet <br /> with Town Counsel to discuss the matter. " Mr. Greelish di- <br /> rected Mr. McQuaid to inform the Executive Secretary how this <br /> Board is proceeding with the matter. <br /> Police Dept. holding cells <br /> Mr. McQuaid relayed, "In December we received several <br /> complaints regarding the condition of the holding cells at <br /> the Police Department. " "Normally the holding cells are in- <br /> spected by the Department of Public Health however, as of <br /> late they have had a heavy work schedule and cou>ld not per- <br /> form periodic inspections. " "A representative of D.P.H. , <br /> (Howard Wensley) was contacted regarding the complaints. " <br /> "He was unable to inspect the facilities and requested an <br /> Agent of this Board conduct the inspection. " "Mr. Wensley <br /> requested I contact him should there be any severe viola- <br /> tions. " "Due to the current situation in town I contacted <br /> Mr. Heufelder from the County and requested he and I perform <br /> an inspection of the holding cells. " "Upon inspection condi- <br /> tions were found to be quite deplorable. " "Subsequently, Mr. <br /> Heufelder forwarded his inspection report to me. " "I pre- <br /> sented a copy of the report to Chief Frye and assured him it <br /> would be kept confidential. " "Chief Frye stated the situa- <br /> tion would be rectified in a few weeks. " "A month later we <br /> reinspected the holding cells and found all violations had <br /> not been corrected. " "I received the second inspection re- <br /> port submitted by Mr. Heufelder. " "I am requesting the <br /> Board's recommendation as to what further action should be <br /> taken. " <br /> Mr. Greelish directed Mr. McQuaid to inform the Police <br /> Chief that the Board has been brought up to date on this mat- <br /> ter. "If the situation is not remedied within 10 days D.P.H. <br /> will be notified. " <br /> Board members agreed. <br /> Trarisfer Station Landfill Electrical service <br /> Mr. Doherty relayed he contacted Brewer Electric to de- <br /> ` termine '. what work is required for hookup at the recycling <br /> area. .
