„
4 MINUTES ' January 21, i1993 4, BOARD OF HEALTH
and I'll remove the covers and have them pumped again during
the summer or after the summer. ” "If you find them not ad-
equate we'll upgrade the system.
Mr. Greelish stated, "This process was started back in
September and we still do not have a solution. "
Mr. Cardillo, Jr. responded, "The reason there has been
no solution is the Conservation Commission got involved. "
"We have no problem installing a septic system if it's
needed. " "Let them go the summer, if it's not adequate we'll
have it pumped. "
Mr. Evans stated, "The system was not inspected because
of the septage pumping records and the engineering plan. "
Mr. Cardillo, Sr. responded, "We're telling you what
happened, there was a broken pipe. " "Let's send somebody
down there, we'll pay the expense to send a man down there
and let's see what will happen. "
Mr. Greelish informed the Cardillo's, "No repairs, what-
soever can be done to a septic system without a permit. "
Mr. Cardillo, Sr. responded, "They did a lot of work
there without permits. " "We thought we were doing the right
thing. " "In the meantime there is a situation here. "
Mr. Greelish explained, "If you have a system in failure
and have a steep grade it's almost inevitable that the rain
is going to wash the effluent into the pond. "
Mr. Cardillo, Sr. responded, "That ain't the situation
here. "
Mr. Greelish stated, "This Board requires a 100' separa-
tion from the water. " "When the system goes into failure it
is subject to the regulations that are in effect at that
time. " "Anything that is flushed down the toilet goes down
gradient and either goes under the pond or exits into the
pond after flowing through the sand as that is the flow of
the groundwater. " "We try to get as much separation as pos-
sible in order to let the bacteria do its job as long as pos-
sible and to prevent pathogens from traveling to far. "
Mr. Cardillo, Jr. questioned Board members as to what
choices they have.
rt
