MINUTES April 7, 1994 5 BOARD OF HEALTH
not. " "In my opinion, this is of some concern. " "What I
would recommend is based on the minutes of tonight's meeting
that we request Mr. Haney to attend an upcoming Board meeting
to address these issues including the water and sewer prob-
lems and let Mr. Aldridge know when Mr. Haney will be attend-
ing so Association members may address their concerns in
person. "
Board members agreed with Mr. McQuaid's recommendation.
Mr. Doherty directed the agent to also include in Mr.
Haney's letter that this Board would like to see the letter
of commitment and to inform him the trailer park's operating
license is in jeopardy.
*****NEW BUSINESS*****
323 H000hole Road
Mr. Anastasios Moshonision, lot owner, was in atten-
dance.
Mr. McQuaid relayed, "I was driving through Briarwood
the other day at which time I saw a well drilling rig on a
piece of property on the corner of Hoophole and Back Road. "
"I know the Board's policy is not to allow any new wells in
the Briarwood area of Mashpee for drinking or irrigation pur-
poses because of the known groundwater pollution. " "It has
also been the policy of the Board that when a homeowner tied
into public water and they had a well they may continue to
use the well for irrigation purposes, as long as, there was a
backflow prevention device set in place so that public water
and the groundwater would not contaminate each other. " "We
know the nature of the contamination being volatile organic
compounds that once it is sprayed into the air to irrigate
can cause harm to both human and animals because it can enter
the body through the skin and air. " "Mr. Moshonision is the
property owner where the well was about to be drilled and he
stated to me on the phone that he knew for a fact that sev-
eral new irrigation wells have been drilled in the Briarwood
area. " "I recommended Mr. Moshonision appeal to the Board
for reconsideration of the new well. "
Mr. Bali questioned Mr. Moshonision as to whether he is
tied into public water.
Mr. Moshonision responded, "Yes. " "The piping will not
be connected to the house it will be used for irrigation pur-
poses only. "
