MINUTES June 9 , 1994 10 BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> Mr. Doherty motioned to grant a six month perc extension <br /> for lots 38 & 39 Nobska Road from date of expiration, Mr. <br /> Cram seconded, all agreed. <br /> Emergency Failure - 14 Grenadier Road <br /> Mr. McQuaid relayed, "I inspected the site and found <br /> septage leaking onto the ground surface." <br /> Board members forwarded their signatures to the "Emer- <br /> gency Repair Certification" form. <br /> I <br /> I <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> A. Septic inspection procedures - Mr. Doherty relayed, "In <br /> my opinion septic inspections should include opening up the <br /> leach pit and visually inspecting it. " <br /> Mr. McQuaid commented, "In my opinion the current policy <br /> is adequate however, I would recommend we await Mr. Evans re- <br /> turn for his opinion. " <br /> Board members agreed. <br /> B. Otis Transfer Station hot load - Mr. McQuaid relayed, <br /> ""SEMASS rejected a load which was discovered to contain radio <br /> nuclei. " "Subsequently, the load was returned to Otis. " "We <br /> met with the Radio Physicist from the Department of Public <br /> Health yesterday who confirmed the fact that in one of three <br /> compartments in one railroad car there were high readings. " <br /> "The next step was to contract with a certified Radio <br /> Physicist to witness and supervise the removal of the trash <br /> in that third compartment, locate precisely the radioactive <br /> material and have it disposed of properly. " "Hopefully we <br /> will be able to determine its origin.
