*REVISED DRAFT* SELECT BOARD MINUTES JUNE 24, 2024 11
Select Board
Minutes
June 24, 2024
APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS
CONVENE JOINT MEETING WITH THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING TRUST
Presentation andDiscussionµ of 209 Old Barnstable Road,Traps3aortation Im act Assessment: Vanasse,&
Associates: (continued)
Colton Atkinson suggested that a shared use path be constructed. This would have the potential to reduce
traffic volumes if the path could get to where people would want to go. Mr. Atkinson asked why would a
sidewalk be recommended instead of a shared use path.
Lauren Moore added to the conversation stating the condominium complex has expanded beyond its
capabilities. Ms. Moore indicated the public is present concerning multiple issues and not just traffic. This
is a small quadrant of land, and there is a need for wastewater. The value of property and the effect to
properties cannot be governed by traffic. Many residents have spent a great deal of money to purchase
homes in this area. Ms. Moore urged the Select Board as the authority to do what is needed by finding a
way to improve the whole process, and to help find the right land for affordable housing.
In closing, Evan Lehrer indicated the purpose of the study is to determine the potential impact on the
transportation infrastructure associated to the proposed construction of an affordable housing development
to be located at 209 Old Barnstable Road. Mr. Lehrer indicated there are a series of relatively easy
problems to address such as child safety as it is far more detrimental to be homeless.
Mr. Lehrer urged the Affordable Housing Trust to continue to evaluate the site for its potential as the study
as prepared is well-articulated with implanted solutions.
ADJOURN JOINT MEETING WITH THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING TRUST - 9:57 p.m.
Discussion and Apfaroyal_of"A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THEW wTON OF MASHPEE, MA.
HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN UPDATE 2023": Town Planner Evan Lehrer:
The agenda topic was deferred to the next meeting.
