Page 20. <br /> 10.4.3 Any sign existing in a commercial or industrial district shall be <br /> removed within sixty (60) days or such further period as allowed <br /> by written letter of the building inspector, following the <br /> permanent closing of the ccmmercial or industrial operation. <br /> Any sign not removed in conpliance herewith may be removed by the <br /> building inspector. <br /> 10.5 Residential Districts <br /> 10.5.1 One sign displaying the street number or name of the occupant of <br /> 'the premises or .both, not exceeding four (4) square feet in area <br /> is permitted. Such sign may be attached to a building or may <br /> include identification of an accessory studio or professional <br /> office in the dwelling or on the premises, or may identify other <br /> permitted accessory uses including customary home occupations. <br /> 10.5.2 One bulletin or announcement board or identification sign for a <br /> permitted.non-residential building or use, not more than six (6) <br /> square feet signboard area is permitted. Fir churches and <br /> institutions, two (2) bulletin or announcement or identification <br /> signs are permitted on each building. Each such church or <br /> institution sign shall be not more than ten (10) square feet <br /> signboard area. No such sign shall be located nearer a street than <br /> one-half the required front yard depth. <br /> 10.5.3 On the premises with a lawfully non-conforming non-residential use, <br /> one sign not more than four (4) square feet signboard area is <br /> permitted. <br /> 10.5.4 One "For Sale" or "For Rent" sign, not more than three (3) square <br /> feet signboard area and advertising only the premises on which the <br /> sign is located is permitted. <br /> 10.5.5 One real estate sign, not more than three (3) square feet signboard <br /> area is permitted. Such sign shall be removed forthwith upon signing <br /> of a legally binding purchase and sales agreement or lease agreement. <br /> 10.5.6 One building contractor's sign on a building while actually under <br /> construction, not exceeding four (4) square feet signboard area is <br /> permitted. Such sign shall be remcved forthwith upon completion <br /> or occupancy of the structure. <br /> 10.5.7 In Residential Districts all sign or advertising devices shall be <br /> stationary and shall not ccntain any visible moving or movable <br /> parts. No sign or advertising device in such Districts shall be <br /> of neon, neon type or illuminated tube-type. Lighting or any sign <br /> or advertising device shall be continuous (not intermittent nor <br /> flashing nor cE.mnging) and shall be so placed or hooded as to <br /> prevent direct light from shining onto any street or adjacent <br /> property. No sign or advertising device shall be illuminated after <br /> eleven (11) p.m. , except as permitted by the Board of Selectmen, <br /> upon application to them for a permit, citing reasons for the <br /> exceptions. <br />
