2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> May 7, 2007 <br /> Special&Annual Town Meeting Warrants—Discussion of Motions: <br /> The Board of Selectmen met prior to the Special and Annual Town <br /> Meeting for the purpose of discussing articles pertaining to the May 7, <br /> 2007 warrant. A brief discussion followed regarding amended motions. <br /> Town Counsel,Patrick Costello was in attendance. <br /> Old Indian Meetin Ouse: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to place the above topic on the <br /> Selectmen's agenda. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cook. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> The Old Indian Meetinghouse renovation project is before the Community <br /> Preservation Committee to seek CPA funding at the October 2007 Town <br /> Meeting to assist with the its restoration. The building,the oldest Indian <br /> Meetinghouse in the United States is listed on the National Register of <br /> Historic Places. It was noted the Tribal Council is also seeking additional <br /> grant funding initiatives to fund the restoration project proposal. <br /> A pending matter regarding clear title of the subject property as it relates <br /> to grant funding and mandates of the MA Historic Commission was <br /> discussed. In an effort to assist the project and not impede the state <br /> funding process,the Selectmen agreed to list the Town of Mashpee as a <br /> co-applicant. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to authorize the Town of <br /> Mashpee to enter into an application with the Mashpee Wampanoag <br /> Indian Tribal Council to seek grant funding for the restoration of the <br /> Old Indian Meetinghouse. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cook. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Adjournment: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Green to adjourn at 6:34 p.m. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cook. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
