� f <br /> 4 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> September 29, 2006 <br /> Meeting re-convened: 4:00 p.m. <br /> Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Council/Town of Mashpee: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Myers; In recognition of the discussions <br /> between the Town and the Tribal Council over the past few months, <br /> the merit of the pending petition for federal recognition and,in <br /> particular,the communication from the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal <br /> Council dated September 28,2006, specifically the Tribal resolution <br /> that it will not: (1) file land claims to land held in private hands in the <br /> Town of Mashpee and on Cape Cod,or(2) build a casino in the Town <br /> of Mashpee or elsewhere on Cape Cod,when it achieves recognition, <br /> therefore I move that the Board vote not to submit comments to the <br /> U.S. Department of the Interior on or before the October P filing <br /> deadline. <br /> We hope to continue our discussions with the Tribe in the spirit of <br /> trust,cooperation and goodwill exhibited by the parties in our recent <br /> meetings. <br /> The Board will maintain an active interest in this matter; it reserves <br /> any and all rights and remedies and will take whatever steps may be <br /> necessary in the future to protect the interests of the Town and its <br /> citizens. <br /> We look forward to the prompt conclusion of the federal <br /> acknowledgment process and to a continuing dialogue with Tribe <br /> representatives. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cook. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Adjournment: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cook to adjourn at 4:03 p.m. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Kathleen M.
