5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> • July 18,2005 <br /> Sheldon Gilbert, Chairman, Library Building Committee: <br /> Project Update: <br /> Library Building Committee Chair, Sheldon Gilbert was present to request <br /> the Selectmen authorize the committee to expend $93,500 in conjunction <br /> with donated funds to proceed with Phase III of the contract with J. <br /> Stewart Roberts Associates. The sum, $93,500 is the remaining amount of <br /> funds appropriated previously for planning and engineering services for <br /> the new Library. <br /> Mr. Sheldon indicated that Mashpee was notified of its fifth place standing <br /> on a wait list of twenty-five municipalities for receipt of requested grant <br /> funds. The benefit of the wait list placement will allow the Friends of the <br /> Mashpee Library additional time to raise necessary funds for the <br /> construction project. <br /> The current status of financing for the new Library as follows: <br /> 1. The Town of Mashpee has approved a$3.5 million bond authorization. <br /> 2. The State has placed Mashpee on a wait list for a $2,551,775 grant. <br /> 3. The Friends of the Mashpee Library must raise at least$1.7 million in <br /> private funds to support construction and financing for the new <br /> Library. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to authorize the Library <br /> Building Committee to expend $93,500 along with donated funds to <br /> proceed with Phase III of the contract with J. Stewart Roberts <br /> Associates subject to the following conditions: <br /> 1. That$180;000 in donated funds has been transferred to the <br /> appropriate Library account. <br /> 2. That the Friends of Mashpee Library has documented that it has <br /> raised approximately $1 million in the form of donations, <br /> foundation grants and pledges to support construction of the new <br /> Library. <br /> 3. That the Town will have solicited proposals for Project Manager <br /> and made a selection, as required under Chapter 193 of the Acts of <br /> 2004. <br /> 4. That authorization for Phase III architectural services must be <br /> granted by the Town Manager in accordance with the foregoing <br /> conditions. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cook. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br />
