1 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> • Minutes <br /> September 12, 2005 <br /> Present: Selectman Green, Selectman Taylor, Selectman Myers, <br /> Selectman Cahalane, Selectman Cook <br /> Town Manager Joyce Mason <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Green at 6:30 p.m. <br /> Town Hall, Conference Room#1. <br /> MINUTES: <br /> MondayAumt 1.5, 2005 Regular and Executive Sessions: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to approve the Regular and <br /> Executive Session minutes of Monday,August 15,2005 as presented. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Myers. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Comment: <br /> Certificate of Appreciation—Larry Dove-„DPW: <br /> Update Hurricane Katrina: <br /> The Board of Selectmen presented Larry Dove a certificate of appreciation <br /> for tireless efforts and outstanding service to the Town of Mashpee. Mr. <br /> Dove recently retired after serving the Department of Public Works for <br /> twenty-nine years. <br /> Mashpee Fire Chief George Baker announced the Base Realignment and <br /> Closure Commission(BRAC)has recommended the Otis National Guard <br /> Base be realigned and remain active as a military base. <br /> Chief Baker also indicated from his department, Captain Kevin Long and <br /> Firefighter Nicole Stanley has been deployed and will serve on an eight <br /> member unit assisting the State of Mississippi for the next ten days. It was <br /> noted the Town would be reimbursed for salary, overtime and fringe <br /> benefits. To date "Operation Helping Hand"has provided assistance to <br /> approximately 200 guest's at the Camp Edwards shelter from the Gulf <br /> Coast. The department is on standby awaiting the arrival of additional <br /> Hurricane Katrina evacuee's. <br /> S <br />
