1 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> September 13, 2004 <br /> Present: Selectman Cahalane, Selectman Green, <br /> Selectman Taylor, Selectman Myers <br /> Town Manager Joyce Mason <br /> Absent: Selectman Marsters <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Cahalan at 6:30 p.m. <br /> Town Hall, Conference Room#1. <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Comment:None at this time. <br /> Deputy Police Chief—Discussion of Town Meeting_Article: <br /> Al Todino, Deputy Chief of Police was present to discuss the Town <br /> Meeting article submitted by the Police Department relative to expense <br /> budget needs for FY05. <br /> A memorandum from the Chief of Police dated July 9, 2004 described the <br /> training that would require tuition, lodging and meals. Training needs of <br /> the department in the areas of specialized and advance police training <br /> topics amounted to $16,816. <br /> The amount was reduced to $14,791 at the direction of Deputy Todino. <br /> Lodging for Defensive Tactics Instruction $725 and Traffic Accident <br /> Reconstruction$1,300 would not be a required expenditure. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Green to put forward for the October <br /> Town Meeting the sum of$14,791 to increase the expense budget of <br /> the Police Department as outlined.. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Myers. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> The sum of$20,000 requested to be appropriated for the fall Town <br /> Meeting for anticipated costs in energy and gasoline was deferred at this <br /> time. <br />
