2
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
October 18, 2004
Authorization to Negotiate Contract for Library Architect:
Motion made by Selectman Taylor to place the above referenced topic
on the Selectmen's agenda.
Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
Of the thirty-nine candidates who submitted proposals for design services
associated to the new library project, seven were interviewed. Three firms
met or exceeded criteria deemed advantageous or highly advantageous.
The Town Manager recommended the Selectmen accept the proposal
received from Jay Stewart Roberts and authorize the Town Manager to
negotiate on behalf of the Board, a contract within budget constraints for
architectural design services for the construction of a new Mashpee Public
Library.
It was noted that a Town Meeting article appears on the warrant for
architectural design, engineering services, and the construction of a new
library in the amount of$3,500,000. The Board of Selectmen would be
the authority to grant final approval of the architectural contract.
Motion made by Selectman Taylor to accept and authorize the Town
Manager to negotiate a contract for architectural design services with
the firm of Jay Stewart Roberts pending the Selectmen's review of the
firms design proposal.
Motion seconded by Selectman Green.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
