2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 12, 2002 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Waterwa s Commission/Conservation Commission: <br /> Dred1:1ng Project: <br /> Members of the Waterways Commission were present with Conservation <br /> Commission members Elliot Rosenberg and John Fitzsimmons to discuss <br /> the Mashpee River dredging project. <br /> The use of the Stenberg parcel for the disposal of dredged materials and <br /> for public access to salt water was considered as an alternative due to <br /> financial constraints. <br /> Jim Hanks, Waterways Commission Chairman discussed the dredging <br /> project construction scenarios with the Board and interested public. It was <br /> noted that the.Woods Hole Group(WHG)has been working under the <br /> direction of the Waterways Commission to complete the engineering <br /> design and environmental permitting for the project. <br /> • Cost estimates as prepared by WHG were developed for the following <br /> scenarios: <br /> Scenario #1: Dredge entire 5,052 of river <br /> Phase project over 2 years <br /> Truck sediments to Bourne landfill <br /> $1,702,751 <br /> Scenario #2: Dredge lower 3,600 $.of river <br /> Dredging I — 1.5 months <br /> Public landing closed 6-7 months <br /> $481,580 <br /> Scenario #3: Dredge lower 750 ft. of river <br /> Dredge 1 —2 weeks <br /> Public landing closed 5-6 months <br /> $275,000 <br /> Scenario #4: No action <br /> Scenario #5: Investigate offshore disposal options <br /> Cost estimates not obtained <br /> • <br />
