14 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> • Minutes <br /> October 21, 2002 <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Recommendation for Appointment—Principal Clerk/Tax Office: <br /> (continued) <br /> The Selectmen agreed to defer appointment at this time. The personnel <br /> package was incomplete lacking the job description and advertisement <br /> process. The matter was deferred to the next scheduled meeting. <br /> Pay Scale—Kids Klub Preschool: <br /> Gus Frederick, Director of Leisure Services was present to request the <br /> Selectmen support the after-school pay scale as proposed for the after- <br /> school childcare programs. The proposed pay scales were presented in a <br /> memorandum dated October 21, 2002. The rate adjustment would be <br /> more comparable to the summer staff pay scale. The revolving fund <br /> budget would support the increases. <br /> • Motion made by Selectman Marsters to approve the After School Pay <br /> Scale adjustments as proposed by the Leisure Service Department. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VOTE: 4-1. Motion carries. <br /> Selectman Leveille in opposition. <br /> Request for Special Town Meeting <br /> Iry Goldberg, Chairman of the Mashpee Senior Center was present to <br /> request the Selectmen support a.Special Town Meeting for the purpose of <br /> re-casting a vote to approve the allocation of$1.5 million from the Town <br /> of Mashpee for the construction of a new Mashpee Senior Center. <br /> A voting error occurred at the May 2002 Town Meeting. A technicality in <br /> the voting law, which requires a 2/3 vote of approval when there is not a <br /> unanimous voice vote, was not followed. There is concern that the <br /> technicality may compromise the grant application. <br /> A cost estimate for a Special Town Meeting was presented to the <br /> Selectmen for consideration. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to hold a Special Town Meeting <br /> on Monday,December 9,2002. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
