14 Board of Selectmen • Minutes October 21, 2002 OLD BUSINESS: Recommendation for Appointment—Principal Clerk/Tax Office: (continued) The Selectmen agreed to defer appointment at this time. The personnel package was incomplete lacking the job description and advertisement process. The matter was deferred to the next scheduled meeting. Pay Scale—Kids Klub Preschool: Gus Frederick, Director of Leisure Services was present to request the Selectmen support the after-school pay scale as proposed for the after- school childcare programs. The proposed pay scales were presented in a memorandum dated October 21, 2002. The rate adjustment would be more comparable to the summer staff pay scale. The revolving fund budget would support the increases. • Motion made by Selectman Marsters to approve the After School Pay Scale adjustments as proposed by the Leisure Service Department. Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. VOTE: 4-1. Motion carries. Selectman Leveille in opposition. Request for Special Town Meeting Iry Goldberg, Chairman of the Mashpee Senior Center was present to request the Selectmen support a.Special Town Meeting for the purpose of re-casting a vote to approve the allocation of$1.5 million from the Town of Mashpee for the construction of a new Mashpee Senior Center. A voting error occurred at the May 2002 Town Meeting. A technicality in the voting law, which requires a 2/3 vote of approval when there is not a unanimous voice vote, was not followed. There is concern that the technicality may compromise the grant application. A cost estimate for a Special Town Meeting was presented to the Selectmen for consideration. Motion made by Selectman Marsters to hold a Special Town Meeting on Monday,December 9,2002. Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
