Finance Committee Minutes <br /> March 18 , 1987 <br /> Page 2 . <br /> C <br /> was to be set aside must be protected in an Article for Stablization <br /> till the proper sum is determined and the Article - brought back- at <br /> a later date . There was agreement that it is not wise to vote <br /> on Articles if the prices are not yet in . <br /> The following could possibly be deferred to a future .special <br /> at which time firm figures would be in and more information . <br /> Police Dept . Computer <br /> Fire Engine <br /> Elementary School <br /> School Roof & Repairs <br /> Traffic Signals <br /> Transfer Station - Local <br /> Deerfield Road Taking <br /> Senior Citizens Deck <br /> Water Systems - depend on what happens at Special <br /> Recreation Facilities Improvements _ deferred to maintain <br /> John ' s Pond Park Improvements a full-time position <br /> Bog Sprinkler System _ deferred to maintain a full- <br /> Survey Conservation Lands <br /> time position <br /> Hanson stated his belief that the Town Hall Roof and <br /> renovation should not be deferred . Lawrence stated his belief <br /> that the Selectmen had to establish some sort of policy rather <br /> than hand-picking what should and should not be deferred . All <br /> were in agreement that a stablization fund was needed and that <br /> Selectmen and Finance Committee must protect it from special <br /> interest groups . The Selectmen would further discuss the <br /> Articles to be deferred at their meeting . <br /> The Finance Committee Chairman next informed the Finance <br /> Committee that a Request for Transfer from the Reserve Fund <br /> had been received from the Selectmen in the amount of $25 , 0000 <br /> for Legal and Engineering costs . The current balance in the <br /> Reserve Fund is $67 , 573 . 20 . Finance Committee members were <br /> concerned that if the $25 , 000 were approved the spending would <br /> continue in this account . It was believed that Murphy had <br /> informed all department heads to stop operations and only contact <br /> the lawyers on Thursday afternoons when they were at town hall . <br /> However , Finance Committee members had not received anything in <br /> writing to ' this effect . It was agreed to put this Request for <br /> Transfer on hold till the following meeting and Chairman Blythe <br /> would discuss it with Joe Murphy . <br /> The Finance Committee next discussed the Planning Board <br /> Budget with the Chairman of that Board . The Planning Board <br /> FY88 request was for $17 , 000 for the Consulting Engineer and <br /> $1 , 000 for Maps & Expenses . The Finance Committee voted and <br /> approved the budget as follows : <br />
