The first item addressed was the town hall <br /> computer , estimated cost $230, 000 . The Computer Selection Committee <br /> notified the Finance Committee of their recommendation for the <br /> purchase: and installation of a computer supplied by the Municipal <br /> and School Business Officials Cooperative Corporation . <br /> This system would include. a Digital Equipment Corporation <br /> central processing unit , associated peripherals from various <br /> vendors and the Cooperative Corporation ' s municipal applications <br /> software systems . <br /> The costs were estimated as follows : <br /> Hardware & software $175 , 205 <br /> Assessors ' file conversions 20 , 000 <br /> Facilities modifications 25 , 000 <br /> Hardware/software modifications 6 , 500 <br /> $226 , 705 <br /> Murphy noted that this system would allow for the collection <br /> of all town funds in one place . He noted that the $175 , 205 <br /> for hardware and software was a firm figure , however , ideally the <br /> town would . not need to spend the $20 , 000 for Assessors ' file <br /> conversion . This would be the very highest figure . Murphy <br /> stated that there is no firm schedule of what departments are going <br /> online first . The training for the .system was one of the main <br /> selling points of the company selected . This computer is a shelf <br /> item and is readily available . The funds for the computer would <br /> come from three sources , Overlay Reserve , Stabilization and the <br /> Data Processing Account ( $26 , 000) . <br /> The next item addressed by the Finance Committee was the <br />
