MA 02649
FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES
Town hall
October 13 , 1987
Present : Edward Dolan , Carol Dunivan , John Ferriday , Carl Heller ,
and Joyce Howell
The Town Planner , Tom Fudala joined the meeting to discuss
Article #3 of the Special Town Meeting Warrant of November 2nd .
"To see if the Town will vote to ratify and confirm
the action taken under Article 13 of the May 4 , 1987
Special Town Meeting notwithstanding the provisions
of Section 2 . 9 . 2 of the Town By-laws , or take any
other action thereon . "
This article proposes that the town give the New Seabury Corporation
6 . 2 acres on the south side of Red Brook Road . The town found
that the original article proposed to give 6 . 2 they did not own ,
i
so the new article is essentially a substitution . This 6 . 2
is out of 35 acres the town acquired this year . This leaves a
29 acre parcel with 270 ' frontage on Red Brook Road as access .
New Seabury would give to Prime Properties 7 . 2 acres on Red Brook
that is part of a subdivision that has been approved . The town
would receive 8 . 72 acres on Red Brook , as well as , 3 . 9 acres on
Red Brook in Mashpee and . 65 in Falmouth and a . 43 acre parcel
for a total of 13 . 7 acres , Of this 13 . 7 acres , 2 . 9 acres
mainly on Red Brook is wetlands . The purpose of this trade is
to further the town ' s Master Conservation Plan . Fudala noted that
M this trade has been in negotiation for 18 months . He also noted
the issue with a section of the by-laws whereby the town has to
vote whether this acquired land should go to conservation .
