1 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> May 7, 2001 <br /> Present: Selectman Leveille, Selectman Cahalan, Selectman Taylor, <br /> Selectman Marsters, Selectman Green <br /> Town Administrator Robert Whritenour <br /> Assistant Town Administrator Joyce Mason <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Leveille at 6:30 p.m. <br /> at the Quashnet School prior to the Annual Town Meeting. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Algonquin Avenue—Road Repair Authorization: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Taylor to place the above topic on the <br /> Selectmen's agenda. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Several residents of Algonquin Avenue were in attendance to request the <br /> Board of Selectmen authorize the Department of Public Works to conduct <br /> necessary road repair. The deep pothole in the road was deemed an <br /> immediate public safety issue. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Green to authorize the DPW to repair the <br /> large pothole on Algonquin Avenue as requested. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> A Public Hearing will be held in mid-June to discuss Algonquin Avenue <br /> and related neighborhood road areas. Applicable residents will be notified <br /> of said hearing. It is the intention of the Board of Selectmen to develop a <br /> long-term solution to address the road matter. An article will be <br /> considered for the October 2001 Town Meeting warrant. <br />
