Projected FY90 Budget Increases 1,647 ,469
Projected FY90 Total Budget 5,023,336
i
DeMoura asked the Finance Committee for time to address two other matters
of concern. The Superintendent stated that when the new school opens there will
be one empty classroom. He sees a need for additional room in three years.
j There is land adjacent to the new school available for purchase. He expressed
his belief that it would be - prudent for the town to purchase this land for
j future needs. He is currently seeking a 10-year commitment from Falmouth
to continue to educate Mashpee high school students. The present commitment
is three years. It is urgent that the town consider options and perhaps plan
for another facility - in the area of heaviest school-age population.
The second item of concern was the Middle School Roof. He would like to
i
meet with the Finance Committee and the School Building Committee sometime
in January to discuss this matter. The bids for the roof will be opended on
December 20th and there is an Article on the Special Town Meeting Warrant
of January 30th, 1989. He noted that they are looking at total roof
replacement and a neoprene roof has been suggested. He noted that the roof
on the new school building will be pitched, and hopefully incur less problems.
Carole Dunivan informed the Committee that to date there had been no
word received from the Selectmen as to whether or not Anthony Callo' s
nomination to the Finance Committee had been approved. She also noted that
a mailing had been received regarding the issuance of building permits. A
copy of this correspondence is attached.
Members will be -notified of the next meeting. Operating Budgets are due
December 23 so the next meeting will be scheduled for budget reviews. Carole
again reiterated the need to review budgets prior to the Departments meeting
with the Finance Committee.
The meeting adjourned at 9 p.m.
Gail McNabb
Board Secretary
