1 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 28, 2001 <br /> Present: Selectman Cahalane, Selectman Marsters, Selectman Taylor, <br /> Selectman Green, Selectman Leveille <br /> Acting Town Administrator Joyce Mason <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Cahalane at 6:00 p.m. <br /> Town Hall, Conference Room#1. <br /> l <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Comment: <br /> Mashpee resident Norman Glener discussed the Town's growth and <br /> requested information pertaining to the long-range plan to protect the <br /> quality of life. <br /> In other business, Superintendent of Schools Sherwood Fluery invited <br /> members of the Board of Selectmen to attend the All School Opening on <br /> Tuesday, September 4, 2001 at 8:00 a.m. The Acting Town Administrator <br /> and Finance Committee were also invited to attend the review of goals <br /> intended for the upcoming school year. <br /> With reference to the Town Meeting article proposed to fund benefits for <br /> increases in school personnel, Mr. Fluery informed the Selectmen that <br /> health benefit funding for future employee's is contained in the present <br /> school budget revenue stream. It was noted that the proposed new lunch <br /> program is intended to be self-supporting. In the future, Mr. Fluery <br /> suggested that a study committee be developed to review health benefits <br /> for both the town and school employees. Budgetary concerns should also <br /> be addressed at this time. <br /> Arthur Weinstein, a member of the Council on Aging respectfully <br /> requested the Board of Selectmen place an article on the Town Meeting <br /> warrant to fund the design or expansion of a new Senior Center. Mr. <br /> Weinstein indicated that the present building is inadequate for the senior <br /> population. <br /> i <br />
