7
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
November 19, 2001
Change Order 43 —Cemetery
Cemetery Change Order 43 in the amount of$1,185.80 was presented
to the Selectmen for approval.
Description: Addition of WX350 Pressure Tank to include tank fittings.
Motion made by Selectman Marsters to approve the Mashpee
Municipal Cemetery Change Order#3 in the amount of$1,185.80.
Motion seconded by Selectman Leveille.
VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0.
NEW BUSINESS:
Request for Emergency Repairs— Simons Narrows Road:
Correspondence was received from the Bayridge Homeowners
Association, Inc. dated October 25, 2001 relative to their interest
in having Simons Narrows Road taken as a public way. The homeowners
intend to pursue a petition for the taking under the Betterment Act.
The road has substantially deteriorated in the last several years with heavy
use by large truck traffic generated by housing development in Shoestring
Bay. The Board of Selectmen has been request to authorize emergency
road funds for the repair of the catch basins that have dropped
approximately 12' from the road surface.
Greg Taylor, Director of Public Works discussed his review of the
drainage system along Simons Narrows Road. Mr. Taylor has estimated
the repair to cost $27,000. The road repair projection exceeds the Town
wide emergency road repair budget of$10,000 per year.
Discussion followed. The Selectmen agreed to notify the subject
homeowners of the taking process, suggest that a petition be prepared and
request that additional options be considered by the association at this
time.
Motion made by Selectman Leveille to deny the request to conduct
emergency repairs to Simons Narrows Road.
Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor.
V4 _: Unanimous. 4-0.
