11 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> December 3, 2001 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Request for Step Increase—Deputy Police Chief: <br /> Maurice Cooper, Chief of Police was present to request the Selectmen <br /> approve a step increase for Deputy Police Chief Al Todino as a result of <br /> the present salary inequity between the lieutenant position and position of <br /> Deputy Chief of Police. <br /> The request was outlined in the Chief's memorandum of November 28, <br /> 2001 addressed to the Board of Selectmen. Chief Cooper also requested <br /> that the step increase be considered retroactive from the date of July 1, <br /> 2001. Discussion followed. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Leveille to approve the Step Increase <br /> for Deputy Police Chief Al Todino to Step 5 effective immediately and <br /> retroactive to the date of the Lieutenant's effective appointment and <br /> based on the negotiated contract, the Deputy Chief would receive the <br /> 3%salary increase based on Step 4 retroactive to the date of 7/1/01. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> i Withdrawal of Appointment Police Department: <br /> Discussion followed with respect to the correspondence as received from <br /> the Chief of Police dated November 27, 2001 relative to a withdrawal <br /> request of appointment for an applicant/candidate who did not meet the <br /> conditions of employment. <br /> In response, the Selectmen agreed to review further documentation with <br /> respect to this regard. The issue was taken under advisement at this time. <br />
