. 2 Board of Selectmen Minutes March 13, 2000 APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: Public Comment: JoAnne Ferragamo requested the Board support the placement of $65,000 into Article #3 of the Special Town Meeting warrant towards the construction of a Memorial Park. It was noted that the Selectmen previously voted to fund$30,000 for the project at their last meeting. The Mashpee 2000 Committee, a private, non-profit organization is working on a memorial park dedicated to honor Mashpee veterans at the site of the Collins lot located across from the Town Hall facility. A platform for outdoor performances and a kiosk for Mashpee events are also considered. The total cost for the project is approximately $130,000. The Mashpee 2000 Committee is requesting funds for one-half of the total cost. The remainder of funds will be assumed through community pledges. Article#3 —Special Town Meeting Warrant: Motion made by Selectman Leveille to place the above topic as an agenda item of the Board of Selectmen. Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. Discussion followed with respect to sufficient funds to allocate to the Special Town Meeting warrant article relative to the Mashpee Memorial Park Account. It was noted that the Fire Department overtime budget is on the agenda to be reviewed and considered by the Board of Selectmen. Motion made by Selectmen Leveille to rescind the Board's previous action,and insert the sum of S61,000 into Article#3 of the Special Town Meeting warrant to fund the Memorial Park as outlined. If funding is readily available at the end of tonight's discussion relative to the Special Town Meeting warrant, the sum of$65,000 shall be placed in said account to fund the Mashpee Memorial Park Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
