Finance Committee Minutes
January 8, 1991
Page 3.
The Finance Committee unanimously agreed that the town should have a
capital program for items less than $100,000 each. John Ferriday stressed that
the town has to be very selective on recommending 2 ooverrides to fund capital
_programs and members concurred with this statement.
The Finance_ Committee members discussed their position on employee pay
raises. It was the consensus that the statement be made that if raises are
given to employees people will have to be laid off. The committee does not
favor new positions or upgrades but will consider each position.
Members .felt that budget .cuts .need ..to .be selective cuts rather than a
percentage cut to all department budgets.
The committee next addressed a Request for Transfer for $10,000 for
clerical overtime from Chief Frye of the Police Department. Members asked the
secretary to' have Chief Frye address this issue at the next Finance Committee_meeting.
The Finance Committee unanimously approved a Request for Transfer in the amount
of $42,000 for the Insurance Premium Account. Kevin Harrington submitted this
request to cover the cost of an addition premium for Worker's Compensation due
to an audit.
At 8:45 .p.m. the committee went into Executive Session.
The meeting adjourned at 9:10 p.m. The next meeting is January 14th, at
b:30 p.m.
I
Gail McNabb
Board Secretary
