Finance Committee Minutes - Executive Session
February 12, 1991 - 8:10 p.m. - 8:35 p.m.
Kevin Harrington stated that the town is presently in a dispute with
Fields Point over ownership of a 17 acre parcel of land. This is scheduled
to go to Superior Court sometime in March. Kevin and Fields Point are
currently trying to work out an agreement whereby the parcel of land will
be assessed and Fields Point would agree to lease the Queen of All Saints
Church building to the town for a five year periord for $1 per year.
Fields Point will also take $50,000 and rennovate the building for the
town to be used as a recreational facility. The town will be responsible
-for the operating expenses. At the end of the 5-year period if the
recreational facility has not worked out well the town can get the
balance of the price of the property (estimated balance $250,000) or
if the facility has proved a good move for the town then they can keep
on renting it at a $1 per month.
Keving stated that for the amount of money involved it is a great
deal. If the town goes to court they run the risk of losing everything.
He noted that Dean will need $4,500 in expenses to run this facility.
Kevin noted that there is a great deal of potential here and that Dean
Driscoll the Leisure Services Director has drafted a plan of activities.
I
