FINANCE COMMITTEE
EXECUTIVE SESSION
June 24, 1991
Town Hall
8: 40 p.m.
Both items on the Executive Session agenda have to do
with buildings . There are some problems with the Queen of
All Saints building proposal . when the Selectmen first got
into this issue it was decided that Kevin and Joe Reardon
would not be involved in the negotiations with Fields Point.
The negotiations were handled by two Selectmen. The deal was
put together but when the contracts came forward they were
not what was originally planned so Joe Reardon had to get
involved. Joe has found some problems with the contracts
so the deal is presently "shaky. "
Jim is a member of the Municipal Office Space
Subcommittee. The school is going to need more space in the
present Town Hall so there is a need to look for more, office .
space. Jim met with U.S. Trust and there are a lot of
unanswered questions about Pine Tree Place. There were
questions about municipal water supply, access and where
the access road would go. Jim noted that under State law
the town would have to go out to bid on this. The office
building on Route 130 has also contacted the town about
rental and Deer Crossing has also informed the town that they
will have office space available next year. The town will
have to issue a Request for Proposal for municipal office
space. U.S. Trust agreed to put together a couple of
different packages for leasing space and buying the building.
Another alternative could possibly be the Queen of All Saints
Building. The building down on Route 130 would only offer a
temporary solution. It is out of the way and the parking is
not adequate. Pine Tree Place would satisfy the needs of the
town for some time to come.
