C o urt of 15 pee
?' , •J0' P. o. BOX 1108
LFco`:+ MASHPEE. MA 02649
FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES
Masphee Public Library
June 27 , 1991
Present : Tom Bodwell, Tony Gallo, Deirdre Greelish, Albert
Polsi, Denise Sullivan and Jim Vaccaro
The meeting of the Finance Committee commenced at 6 p.m.
The first order of business was correspondence . The Chairman
noted that Kevin Harrington has requested the audio tapes of
the Finance Committee meeting of June 24, 1991. Kevin stated
that he was requesting these tapes because it had come to his
attention that his reputation, character and abilities were
debated at a public meeting and he would like these tapes to
review with his attorney. The Chairman requested that the
secretary forward these tapes to the Executive Secretary.
The first item the Committee addressed under Old
Business was- the reconsideration of the Firefighters Request
for Transfer- however- this has been withdrawn. The second
item is the Medicare Account . There is a balance of about
$3 ,900 in. this account, this was carried over from FY90. The
independent auditor has indicated that we can not use this in
FY91 and it will immediately have to be closed to the General
Fund. As a result the Town Treasurer is short . The amount
she is requesting is $2, 248 . 21 , for Medicare for the
remainder of this year. Tony motioned that $2 , 248 . 21 be
transferred to the Medicare Account from the Reserve Fund.
This motion was seconded by Al and there was unanimous
approval of this motion. The third item addressed was the
Veteran' s Services Request for Transfer. The Chairman noted
that he had received more information about the Request .
In order to be eligible for veteran' s services you have to be
a veteran and ineligible for any other type of services. The
majority of the bills are for an individual who has just
moved to Mashpee. The Veteran' s Services has provided a list
of the bills illustrating the medical vendor, the client , the
date of the medical service and the amount . Roughly $3 ,100
of the bills are ready to be paid. Some of these bills date
back to last November. There is another series of bills- in
various stages of processing which total almost $12 ,000.
The total of all the bills is $14 , 951 . 65 There are more
bills but they are not itemized and can not be paid yet.
The Chairman- noted that there is $14,053 remaining in the
Reserve Fund. Tony motioned. that $14 ,000 be approved for the
Veteran' s Services Request for Transfer. This motion was
seconded by Deirdre and all members voted in favor. This
leaves a remainder in the Reserve Account of $53 . 31 . The
remainder of the Veteran' s Services bills will have to go as
