r
Mashpee Finance Committee -2- 5/.32
REQUESTS FOR TRANSFER
The Conservation Commission requested $6224. 60 be transferred for
salary for a part-time clerk: at $6. 00 per hour. Mrs. Sullivan
felt this hourly rate is too low as it ' s lower than what board
secretaries receive.
MOTION by Mrs. SLEl l ivan/Mr. Goggin to accept the
transfer of $624.60, SO VOTED UNANIMOUSLY.
The Board of Selectmen were requesting the transfer of $1600. 00
for navigational buoys. There will also, be an article in the
Special Town Meeting to purchase more to replace those lost in
the hurricane. The Finance Committee agreed to vote on this
transfer at their next meeting Dance Mrs. Sullivan receives more
information, such as how many buoys are needed.
ARTICLES
Mr . Goggin stated the Treasurer is submitting an article to
accept Massachusetts General Laws which would allow her and ether
departments t assess fees. Finance Committee members felt
Chapter 40 was toci broad especially in setting fees.
MOTION by Mr . Goggin/ Mrs. Greelish to recommend this
article, NOT VOTED. ALL OPPOSED.
OLD BUSINESS
Mr . Pol si said he asked Elias McQuaid about the $15, 000 reduction
int he Board of Health budget and was told the $15, 000 had been
first .put in the budget in anticipation of the petition articles
to renew the health and humans services contracts, but due to the
economy of the town, they removed the amount from the FY93
budget . Mr . McQuaid said if the articles are approved the Beard
of Health would still like to monitor the programs and therefore
the money to fund these articles should be added backs into the
Board of Health expense account .
MOTION by Mr . Goggin/Mrs. Greel ish to recommend level
funding these contracts at $3F00.00 each.
The articles are for Site Loss Services, Independence House, Head
Start-Gape God Child Development Program, Nauset Workshop and
Legal Services for Cape & Islands. Mr . Ferriday felt these
petitioners were requesting these particular sums of money
because the figures are related to the costs of providing
services to Mashpee residents in the past and felt the Committee
should support those requests. He also felt the money should be
used on a voucher type system wherein the agency submits the bill
