Page 3
Baker was the best person for the job and that it was in the best
interest of the town to have a new liaison assigned.
Diane Rommelmeyer was present at the meeting and handed out to the
members, a copy of Mashpee's Revenue Ledger Revenue Statement dated
July 1, 1991 through April 30, 1992; and Mashpee's Expense Ledger
for FY 93 Budget as voted on May 4, 1992.
Members then spoke about what they would discuss with the Board of
Selectmen at their Monday night meeting. Their main concern was
the problem with the Fire contract this year. The members felt
that they did not have adequate time to review it; that a member of
the Finance Committee was not present at the negotiations; did the
Board of Selectmen in fact approve the contract or even discuss it
in final form; the contract should have been voted on in its
entirety, not on. bits and pieces of it.
Roger Dunivan MOTIONED that the chairperson, Deirdre Greelish,
write a memo to the Board. of Selectmen., which would be hand
carried, regarding the lack of contact with the Finance Committee.
It was seconded by Dan Goggin and members approved 7-0. Ms.
Greelish stated that she would prepare a memo stating that the
committee wants to be involved from the beginning of negotiations;
want a formal vote on its entirety; we want a Finance Committee
member to be present with Board of Selectmen and labor counsel for
all negotiations. Members also stated that they would require six
weeks after Selectmen ratified the contract to properly review it
and make available to the public their opinion.
Denise Sullivan, liaison to Waterways, spoke regarding the
commission's meeting the previous night. With the $20,000 received
at town meeting, the department feels they would like to purchase
11 channel markers which cost $100 to $150 each. There was some
discussion of purchasing. a fire boat and spending funds for more
education. Hank Madden is the new harbormaster.
i
Members agreed that next Tuesday we would discuss the priorities of
the Finance Committee for the following months. John Ferriday
mentioned that he attended the pre bid conference for the 15 room
addition. The money bids will open after selecting an architect.
Tony Gallo MOTIONED to adjourn. Ed Baker seconded and members
agreed 7-0. The meeting adjourned at 9:20 P.M.
Minutes submitted by Jean M Mooney, recording secretary.
