John
Ferriday seconded the motion. Members voted Deirdre Greelish in
favor, Dan Goggin in favor, John Ferriday in Favor, Roger Dunivan
in favor, Tony Gallo in favor and Ed Baker in favor.
Members looked at the table that Ed Baker had prepared for last
week's meeting regarding the departments' holidays, sick days, etc.
Roger Dunivan made a change in the Police Department's schedule.
Ms. Greelish took the master chart with the change noted.
Members then discussed contract notes which was proposed by Ed
Baker. Mr. Baker felt that the items for consideration were the
change in the insurance split be from 75/25 to 50/50 or 60/40. Mr.
Ferriday MOTIONED that the insurance split be moved to 50/50. Mr.
Gallo thought 60/40. Mr. Baker mentioned that just about every
town on the cape was using a 50/50 split. Ms. Greelish mentioned
that if we proposed a 50/50 split, we would have to know exactly
what the money value was and exactly what the employee would be
responsible to pay for. Mr. Baker stated that he was proposing
that the 50/50 should be for new hires. Mr. Ferriday mentioned
that if we started at 50/50 you could always go up to 60/40. Mr.
Dunivan mentioned that what is given in a contract is usually not
taken away.
The next item proposed by Mr. Baker was elimintating double holiday
pay (cost trade off required) . Mr. Baker suggested the committee
do a study to see if their would be a savings by taking away extra
holiday pay for everyone and just paying the men/women who work.
Ms. Greelish stated that the person who did not work would get
regular pay for the holiday and the person who did work would get
an additional days pay or time and a half pay.
Next members discussed the reduction of sick days (cost trade off
required) . Mr. Baker mentioned that this would take some study.
Mr. Goggin mentioned that there should be some limit on buy-back.
Mr. Gallo mentioned that he would like to see the number of sick
days go from 15 days to 10 days and if only a partial number of
days be used then then pay the employee for those days remaining in
cash.
At the next meeting members will also discuss elimination of
compensation time and eliminating longevity.
The meeting in executive session adjourned at 9:40 P.M.
