Page '6
for FY94 . Roger Dunivan seconded the Motion. Mr. Goggin asked
what the FY93 actuals were? Mr. Baker stated that the FY93 total
expenditure for students tuition was $130,521 and $22 , 384 for
therapy totalling $152,905. Deirdre Greelish thanked Mr. Baker on
behalf of the committee for the packet he provided with the helpful
information. The members were not certain where the excess money
would come from to fund this budget at the recommended amount by
Mr. Baker. Possibly from the Falmouth tuition excess. Mr.
Whritenour suggested that the only place it could come from is that
$160,000. He suggested funding the department $5,500,000. Mr.
Ferriday stated that his only concern was finding the money. Mr.
Baker stated that this was not a valid reason for not making a
decision, not knowing where the money would come from. Mr. Goggin
disagreed, he stated that any department could use that argument.
Ms. Greelish claimed that she would be interested to know exactly
what the school department needed in FY93 . She also asked whether
Mr. Whritenour would be willing to spend free cash or the 1% levy
set aside to reach $5,515,000? Mr. Whritenour said yes, providing
they returned excess to free cash, eg. the $200,000 from Falmouth
Tuition. Ms. Greelish stated that there seems to be changes needed
in the management of funding. She claimed aside from that she
would be willing to move the excess Falmouth tuition into the
school budget. Finance Committee Members voted 6-0, Tony Gallo
abstaining, in favor of funding the school department's budget at
$5,5155,000.
The meeting adjourned at 11 :00PM. The next meeting will be on
Thursday, April 1 , 1993 at 7:00PM. The meeting will be a joint
meeting with Mr. Whritenour and the Board of Selectmen. Minutes
were recorded by Jean M. Mooney, Finance Committee Board secretary.
