Page 5
document listing years with budgets v. incidents. His document
showed from 1991 to 1993 the payroll expense increased by 8% but
that the total number of incidents decreased by 10%. Overtime
wages for the years 1991 through 1993 increased 230.
Mr. Goggin asked if benefits had been considered by Mr. Dunivan for
these four employees? Mr. Dunivan stated that no they had not.
Mr. Dunivan thought that it would be useful to have Mar. Hamblin or
the Chief come in and speak on behalf of the Fire Department.
Police Department
Mr. Dunivan also liaison to the Police Department, issued a similar
packet of information regarding the Police budget requests. He had
to leave the meeting at 9: 20PM but asked that the Committee review
this information and his recommendations. He mentioned that he has
not come to a conclusion regarding police dispatchers. The
Committee also spoke briefly about leasing new police cruisers
rather than purchasing them. Mr. Dunivan suggested putting this
aside until the spread sheets were available. Mr. Dunivan
recommended $136,249 total net expenses and approximately $55,000
for net capital. This figure may go up depending on the actual
cost of leasing 7 cars. He stated that in his opinion, under the
Expense column $5,000 was unnecessary for police repairs and $3,000
was unnecessary for new police clothing. Under the Capital side,
he felt that $10, 286 was not needed for a computer system upgrade,
$8,920 unnecessary for portable radios and $8,250 be omitted for
antennal satellites.
In regard to budget incidents, from 1989 through 1993 payroll
increased by 21% and total number of incidents were down from
previous years.
The Committee stated for the record that it was a job well done by
Mr. Dunivan.
Leisure Service, Council on Aging and Library
Mr. Ferriday, who is the liaison to these departments had a
document listing each of the salaries for the employees of these
departments. Some salaries included the 53rd week and some did
not. He was going to rework the figures for the next meeting.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 1994 at 7: OOPM.
These Minutes were submitted by Jean M. Mooney, Recording
Secretary.
Marcia King MOTIONED to adjourn at 9: 40PM. Ms. Sullivan seconded
the Motion and members voted in favor 5-0.
