' 1 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> May 17, 1999 <br /> Present: Selectman Marsters, Selectman Leveille, <br /> Selectman Taylor, Selectman Cahalane <br /> Town Administrator Robert Whritenour <br /> Assistant Town Administrator Joyce Mason <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Marsters at 6:30 p.m. <br /> Town Hall, Conference Room#1. <br /> MINUTES: <br /> Monday, May 10, 1999 Replar_Session: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Leveille to approve the Regular <br /> Session minutes of Monday,May 10, 1999 as presented. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Comment: <br /> Maura Manning read aloud a memo in appreciation to the Board of <br /> Selectmen for their continued support for the Mashpee School system <br /> during this difficult time. <br /> The results of the school budget override defeat are detrimental to our <br /> students, therefore an informational group concerned about the shortfall <br /> of the FY2000 School budget is in the process of circulating a petition to <br /> request the Selectmen schedule a Special Election for a Proposition 2 '/2 <br /> override, or find an alternative to obtain additional funding for the <br /> Mashpee School system. <br /> Ms. Manning invited the Selectmen and interested public to attend an <br /> informational meeting on the State Educational Funding Formula. The <br /> meeting will be held in the Town of Sandwich on Thursday, May 27, 1999 <br /> at 4.00 p.m. <br /> Ryan Johnson, a student of the Quashnet River School invited the <br /> Selectmen to attend a Jazz Band rehearsal. He urged the Board to <br /> continue to support extracurricular school funding. <br /> s <br />
