6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> June 21, 1999 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Hardship Abat ment for—Am royal: <br /> The Board reviewed the request of Fire Chief George Baker to abate the <br /> ambulance bill of Patricia Nompleggi dated 2/21/99 in the amount of <br /> $85.41 due to hardship. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Taylor to approve the hardship <br /> abatement of Patricia Nompleggi in the amount of$85.41 for <br /> ambulance transport services as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Leveille. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Memorandum from the Fire Chief re: Medicare Reimbursement: <br /> Correspondence was received from Chief Baker dated May 26, 1999 <br /> relative to the reimbursement rate for Medicare. Chief Baker has <br /> indicated that he will present information to the Selectmen relative to <br /> increasing fees for ambulance services if this is of interest to the Board. <br /> Medicare is reimbursed 80%of the actual bill. Currently, an emergency <br /> medical transport to Falmouth Hospital for a patient with chest pains costs <br /> the patient$396.08. The minimum fee for transport is presently$317.81. <br /> If the base and mileage billing rates were increased,the same patient <br /> would be billed$429.49. <br /> It is the consensus of the Selectmen to further review the issue of <br /> reimbursement expenses related to ambulatory services. Chief Baker will <br /> be directed to research this matter, and bring forth a recommendation to <br /> the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Request of the Mashpee Communily Concert Committee: <br /> Jim Vaccaro,President of the Mashpee Community Concert Committee <br /> submitted correspondence to the Board in a memo dated May 18, 1999, <br /> Mr, Vaccaro has requested the Selectmen support the annual Mashpee <br /> Night at the Pops, and grant a one-day wine and malt beverage license <br /> for the event,waive all town fees and provide the necessary public safety <br /> services on the evening of July 31, 1999. The rain date is August 1, 1999. <br />
