i <br /> 9 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 9, 1999 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> October Town Meeting,Warrant for Review_Draft#1: <br /> The Board of Selectmen reviewed draft#1 of the October Town Meeting <br /> warrant to be held on the Alt'day of October, 1999 at the Quashnet School <br /> at 7:30 p.m. <br /> The following articles were deleted from the warrant: <br /> To create a part-time Senior Clerk position—Board of Health <br /> To reinstate the position of Town Engineer <br /> To create the full-time position of Switchboard Operator/Receptionist <br /> New positions shall be considered in May. The Board of Selectmen <br /> intends to review in full, the justification for the newly requested <br /> positions. <br /> The October Town Meeting warrant will be further reviewed by the <br /> Selectmen at their next scheduled meeting on Monday, August 23, 1999. <br /> Applicable Department Heads will be requested to discuss their warrant <br /> articles with the Board at this time. <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> AFCEE re: Gates Qgghnet Bog: <br /> Carl Gustafson of Jacobs Engineering was present to request the Board <br /> approve the installation of gates or barriers to restrict vehicular access to <br /> the common way paths around the Quashnet Bog area. <br /> The closing of the area is for the security of the treatment system informed <br /> Mr. Gustafson. Although the bog will be restricted, residents of the Town <br /> will be able to continue to use Grafton Pocknet Road as their access <br /> between Back Road and William Mingo Road. In addition, walking <br /> access will remain to the entire area with the opportunity for residents to <br /> park at each swing gate location. <br /> i <br />
