Board of Selectmen
Minutes 2
January 12, 1998
COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE:
Landfill OQ,m!
Selectman Caffyn related concerns with respect to the closure of
the Town Landfill and the illegal disposal that has occurred as a result.
It was noted that the landfill is presently closed 2x per week. The Selectmen
have requested the Board of Health attempt to close the landfill Ix per week
to alleviate this type of incident.
Personnel Administrator--Three_Year_Contract-
Selectman Caffyn requested that Town Counsel review the legality of
the Personnel Administrator's three year contract approved by the Board
on July 7, 1997 in Executive Session. It was noted that this matter was
agreed upon in Executive Session, but not duly voted upon in Open Session.
Selectman Caffyn noted that the Finance Committee did not review the
contract, and recommended the Board forward copies to the committee.
APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS-
Water Dii trict Commissioners:
Water District Commissioners Deirdre Greelish and Russell Babcock
were present to discuss potential site locations for the Water District
office and maintenance yard on Town owned land.
A memo was submitted to the Board dated January 14, 1999 relative to
appropriate site locations. Tom Fudala, the Town Planner was present and
submitted input into the review process.
Three sites were presented to the Board for consideration. The preferred
location for future Water District office space is located off Route 151 and
located between the Police Station and Coombs School. The site contains
2.19 acres. It was formally the site of the Police Department's pistol range.
Additional sites are located on Ashers Path adjacent to the Transfer Station
and Route 28, and on Route 28 just north of Madaket Place.
