Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 3 <br /> March 16, 1998 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARIN r�S <br /> Warrant R vie : (continued) <br /> Special Town Me6ng Warrant,• (3/13/98) <br /> Article#10: Petition Article; To hire and equip(4)full-time <br /> firefighters. Richard Martini,President of the Local <br /> Firefighters Union read aloud a statement in full support <br /> of the petition request. He recommended the article be <br /> placed on Town Meeting floor to allow the voters to make <br /> the decision. (enclosed) <br /> Annual Town Meeting Warrant: (3113/98) <br /> Article 99: To increase the hours of the part-time Administrative Clerk <br /> in Personnel from 19 hours weekly to 37.5 hours, effective <br /> July 1, 1997. <br /> Marilyn Farren,Personnel Administrator discussed the demands <br /> of her department, and the need for full-time office support. As <br /> other Town departments continue to grow and expand, the <br /> Personnel Department has assumed more responsibilities to help <br /> managers and employees do their jab more effectively. <br /> It is the consensus of the Board to support the article request. <br /> Mr. Whritenour,Executive Secretary also endorsed the request. <br /> Article#12: To re-authorize a property tax work-off voucher system in which <br /> eligible residents perform services for the Town in exchange for <br /> compensation which can be used for the payment of property <br /> taxes. Jim Long, Council on Aging Director recommended the <br /> Board reduce the budget from $5,000 to $2,000. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Frye to amend Article#12 to <br /> read; $2,000 opposed to $5,000 as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. <br /> VOTE Unanimous. 3-0. <br />
