Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 11 <br /> August 10, 1998 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> CloseRequesi to i f Quashnet RQad for a BlockP <br /> Marie Ballad submitted a memo to the Selectman dated August 5,1998 <br /> requesting permission to close a portion of Quashnet Road for a block <br /> party on Saturday, August 22, 1998 for a family cookout. <br /> It was noted that the Police and Fire Chiefs do not have any objection <br /> to the above request. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to approve the request to <br /> close a portion of Quashnet Road on August 22, 1998 as described. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Leveille. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> ME ISSUES: <br /> Selectman Caffyn made note of a memo received from Greg Taylor, <br /> Chairman of the Ad Hoc Environmental Committee relative to the Back Road <br /> issue. The military will be requested to contribute funds to repair the <br /> damaged road. <br /> In other business,the Community Working Group is presently reviewing <br /> three new site locations for the jail/correctional institute. <br /> Discussion followed with regards to Sandwich Road. The Board was in <br /> receipt of a request from the residents of Tri Town Circle for a stop sign <br /> in lieu of a yield sign in this area of concern. A slow sign was also suggested <br /> to comply with the 30 mph sign. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to submit correspondence to the <br /> Town of Falmouth with respect to the issue of Sandwich Road as it <br /> relates to recommended slow speed and signage. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
