As noted, there is no apparent limitation
on the Board of Selectmen enacting such restrictions.
In addition, certification was received which confirmed the PBA as said owners
of Shore and Wading Place Roads.
Ken Bates, a member of the Board of Directors of the Popponesset Beach
Association was present to request that a number of private roads in PBA be
added to the Restricted Parking section of the Town's Traffic Rules to assure
proper enforcement of"No on Street"parking.
Mr. Bates indicated that a special meeting was held on June 27, 1998 to discuss
this matter. The motion: "Move that the Board of Directors of the Popponesset
Beach Association work with the Town of Mashpee and do all possible to assure
proper enforcement of"No on Street" parking regulations,"carried by a margin
of 285 to 61.
Selectman Frye opened the discussion to obtain public comment.
Fred Blythe, Wading Place Road urged the Board to enforce the no parking
restriction in an effort to provide safety in the community.
Discussion followed. Selectman Leveille indicated that concern lies in the
issue of children in the area and being impartial to the community and taxpayers
by not over burdening the police department.
i
