Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes 2 <br /> November 2, 1998 <br /> APP-QaMEMS AND HEARINCr <br /> Tamps Vaccaro re& Fie Station Renovation: <br /> Fire Station Building Committee Chairman Jim Vaccaro was present to <br /> discuss the status of the Fire Station renovation project with members of <br /> the Board of Selectmen. <br /> The building committee has proposed an alternate plan to renovate the Fire& <br /> Rescue Station to met the essential and immediate needs of the department for <br /> the next ten to twelve years. The design is recommended to conform to budget <br /> constraints in the range of$2 million. <br /> Recent cost estimates obtained by Donham & Sweeney presented a two <br /> phased construction project for $3.7 million. Additional revisions <br /> modified by the architect reflected a revised budget of$2.7 million. <br /> After conducting due diligence, it is the consensus of the committee to <br /> recommend the Selectmen begin a new bid process for professional architectural <br /> and design services. Mr. Vaccaro indicated that there are sufficient funds <br /> remaining in the budget for schematic design and elevation services. <br /> Selectman Caffyn present: 6:37 p.m. <br /> It was noted that Town Counsel is presently reviewing this matter. The <br /> building committee recommended the Selectmen re-bid the project <br /> under the new scope of services to obtain a more competitive bid and <br /> to obtain renewed opinions for the renovation project proposal. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Frye to terminate the contract with <br /> Donham and Sweeney,Inc. of Boston for professional Architectural <br /> and Design Services in connection with a final design program for the <br /> renovation of the Mashpee Fire and Rescue Station as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Taylor to authorize the Fire Station Building <br /> Committee to advertise for professional Architectural and Design Services. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Frye. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
