m <br /> i <br /> BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES - REGULAR SESSION <br /> MONDAY, APRIL 9, 1990 <br /> PRESENT: Selectmen Gottlieb, Carter, Hanson, Lawrence, Executive <br /> Secretary Kevin Harrington, Town Counsel Joseph Reardon, <br /> Administrative Assistant Joyce Mason <br /> GUESTS: Tom Christian, Chief Frye, Dr. DeMoura, Representatives of <br /> Carlson Associates,- Michael Toner, Bill Burtiā¢s, <br /> Attorney John Connolly, Deputy Chief Baker, Ernie Vrigilio <br /> Melinda, Gallant, Finance Committee Members, Dave Cohn, <br /> Wayne Garrett <br /> The meeting convened at 3 : 00 p.m. <br /> MINUTES <br /> Mr . Carter moved to accept the Regular and Executive Session minutes <br /> of March 12, 1990 and March 19, I990. Mr. Lawrence seconded the <br /> motion. All were in favor. Mr. Gottlieb abstained from voting on <br /> the minutes of March 12, 1990. <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> 1 . LLQUOR LICENSE HEARING-- BEST BUY BEVERAGE - A public <br /> hearing was held on the application of Best Buy Beverage <br /> for a Wine and Malt Package Goods Store License. Mr. Tom <br /> Christian, owner' of Best Buy Beverage appeared before the <br /> Board and explained that the nature of his redemption <br /> business is that if he pruchases a product from a <br /> distributor they will pick up the empty bottles returned at <br /> the redemption center. Therefore, the license is necessary <br /> for his redemption business to survive. <br /> Mr. Dave Cohn and Mr. Wayne Garrett spoke in favor of the <br /> license, stating that the redemption center was providing a <br /> service to the community. <br /> Mr. Hanson questioned whether there is a need for another <br /> package store in the. community. Mr . Carter stated that <br /> this would not be a typical package store set up, but that <br /> it would be bulk sales/discount store. <br /> Mr. Reardon stated that Mr. Christian' s license could not <br /> be limited to selling cases only. <br />
