30ARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES <br /> MONDAY; OCTOBER 22, 1990 <br /> Present: Selectman Carter., Selectman Gottlieb, Selectman Jacobson, <br /> Selectmari' Hanson and Selectman Lawrence <br /> Executive Secretary Kevin J. Harrington <br /> Guests: Anne Shaw, George Costa, Jane Labute, Diane Rommelmeyer., <br /> Jim Vaccaro, Tony Gallo, Carl Heller, 'Diedre Greelish, <br /> Doug Boyd, Elizabeth Petti, Marilyn Farren, John Ferriday, <br /> Ben Lofchie, Tom Fudala, Ernie Virgilio, Paul 'Somerville, <br /> Deputy Baker.--and Paul. Ott. <br /> The Meeting was Called to Order by Chairman Carter at 7. 00 p.m. <br /> j Acceptance of Bids for: Bonds: <br /> The motion was made by Selectman Lawrence to accept the bids of <br /> 6.9977 of Clayton Brown & Associates, Inc. for bonds in the amount of <br /> $2, 090, 000 for the Police Station Addition,` Middle School roof and <br /> Mills' . land. <br /> Selectman Hanson seconded the motion. The Board votes in a <br /> unanimous decision to accept the bids. <br /> Anne Shaw reported that .Moodys Investment Services has maintained <br /> Mashpee with an A rating. She went to Boston with Diane Rommelmeyer <br /> on Thursday to open the bids. Six firms bid for the bonds. She feels <br /> 6. 997 is a favorable rate with the Chicago based investment house. <br /> Ms. Shaw asks the Selectmen to sign for the bonds this week so she <br /> may return the bids to Boston. <br /> Old Business: <br /> Chairman Carter has talked with Lincoln DeMoura about the Town Hall <br /> facility. Dr. DeMoura has replied that the school will not seeK any <br /> use of the building for classroom space next year.. <br /> Chairman Carter would like to meet all Board Chairmen next week <br /> to get a feel of where the town is going. He would like to set a <br /> goal for the same course of direction. This meeting is to be scheduled <br /> for Monday at S: 30 p.m. He invites the Department Heads to attend the <br /> meeting. <br /> Discussion of FY 92 Budget: <br /> Kevin Harrington reviewed the FY 92 budget with the Board of <br /> Selectmen, Department Heads and interested persons present. He feels <br /> the town is in good shape with a balanced budget in review of FY 91. <br /> As of October the 19th, -there is $442, 000in free cash surplus between` <br /> now and June 30th. <br /> Current outstanding problems include two labor contracts with the <br /> Public Safety Department. There is no resolution at this point. The <br /> Falmouth High School deficit is approximately $150-180, 000. Mr. Harring- <br /> ton will be working with the School Department to .finalize and resolve <br /> this problem. <br /> Dependant upon the CLT petition, Mashpee may have an $87, 000- 1oss <br /> to absorb. The effect is not yet known. <br /> i <br />
