.r BOARD OF SELECTMEN - -- - MINUTES MONDAY, OCTOBER 29, 1990 Present: Selectman Carter, Selectman Jacobson, Selectman Hanson and Selectman Lawrence Executive Secretary Kevin J. Harrington Town Counsel Joseph J. Reardon Absent: Selectman Gottlieb Guests: Jim Vaccaro, Ernie Virgilio, Diane Rommelmeyer, Diedre and Steven Greelish, George Costa, Elias McQuade, Paul Ott, William Hauck, Deputy Cooper,. Chris Burden and Ron Bevacqua The. Meeting was Called to Order ,by 'Chairman Carter at 7: 00 P.M. The motion was made by Selectman Lawrence to approve the minutes of October 15, 1990. Selectman Hanson seconded the motion. The Board votes in favor to approve the past minutes, Regular and Executive Sessions. The motion was made by Selectman Lawrence to approve the minutes of October 22, 1990. Selectman Hanson seconded the motion. The• Board votes in favor to approve the above minutes. Selectman Carter could not attend the meeting scheduled at 5:30 p.m. with the Department Heads. He will send a formal notice to reschedule the meeting through Kevin Harrin&ton. This meeting should take place on Monday, November 5, 1990 at 6: 0o p.m. He apologizes for the in- .convenience. 7: 03 p.m.' Fee Schedule: Assistant Building Inspector: William Hauck presented a revised fee schedule as requested by the Board of Selectmen. He is mandated by the- state building code t.o inspect multiple dwelling units. Mr. Hauck would like to impose strict inspections the first year to insure proper order in the building and extend the time period when proper order has been restored in the building. These buildings are adjoining units with interconnecting alarms. It is a matter of public safety to inspect. jointly with the Fire Department. The Selectmen feel it is. a strong burden to a resident who owns a condominium vs. a single family homeowner with a home in bad shape . It should be the same ownership in fee principal. Town Counsel advises the building inspector is obliged to inspect condo buildings where the public goes.. It is a matter of public safety to inspect hotel, motel and rented units. He questions imposing inspection requirements on a private residential unit. Chairman Carter would like Mr. Hauck to present a more detailed fee schedule. He asks if the fee .schedule could be charged to the association of the condo units every five years opposed to each indi- vidual resident. He would like a more detailed explanation in writing to be submitted to the Board of why and how he proposes to do the inspections. The Board agrees with Chairman Carter' s request for a more detailed fee schedule for clarification.
