TOWN OF MASHPEE DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING May 27, 1998 The Design Review Committee met at 6 : 30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 1998 at the Lower Level of Mashpee Town Hall. Committee Members Present: William Hauck, Ex Officio; Ed Govoni, Chairman; Mary LeBlanc; Thomas F. O'Hara. Absent: Patrick Coffey 1. The Woman's Body Shopp, ,Route 130, Patrick Butler Atty. Butler was present in order to address architectural and landscaping concerns at the proposed location on Rt. 130. A Special Permit had previously been granted contingent upon the building details being worked out to the satisfaction of this committee. Atty. Butler said he wished to address the applicant' s financial concerns as well as the concerns of the board. Photos were displayed. The location and possible re--location of the driveway were discussed at length. Consensus was the driveway should remain where it is with utilities going down it in order to minimize removal of natural vegetation. It was agreed the only area to be cleared would be the driveway; all else will remain in the natural vegetative state. The styling and texture of the building was discussed. Photos were displayed of the Nauset Workshop building in Hyannis. There was concern the present design does not jive with the Special Permit; modification of the permit will be required. Mr. O'Hara said he feels as though we 're starting from ground one, and this appears to be an industrial building hidden by landscaping. Discussion ensued. Mr. Wayne Ducheman with the Economic Development Office expressed his concerns regarding messages being sent to the business community. Atty. Butler said this committee and the BOA have been open-minded. A modification on the siding of the building will be prepared on a 20 or larger plan. Future landscaping plans will be more detailed.
