TOWN OF MASHPEE
DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING
June 23, 1999
The Design Review Committee met at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 1999 at
the Lower Level of Mashpee Town Hall.
Committee Members Present: Chairman Ed Govoni and Thomas F. O'Hara.
Also Present: Russ Wheeler.
MOTION: Chairman Govoni moved to accept the Minutes of June 9, 1999 as
presented. Seconded by Mr. O'Hara. SO VOTED.
1. Cape Cod Healthcare, Mashpee industrial Park— Site Plan Review
Atty. Patrick Butler presented a detailed site plan for a proposed Cape Cod
Healthcare facility to be built in the Mashpee Industrial Park on the corner of Rt. 28
and Industrial Drive. Atty. Butler explained it is a Falmouth Hospital project and there
are no requirements to go before the Cape Cod Commission. A hearing is
scheduled before the Planning Board on July 1.
Mr. Peter DeLorey of J K Scanlan Co. explained that two lots have been purchased,
one on which the building will be constructed. The plans showed a 15,000 sq. ft
footpint; there will be a basement and two floors. Total sq. ft. will be 45,000 sq. ft.
The basement will be for storage, there will be a gurney-sized elevator. The two
floors will be utilized as office space, shared labs and administrative purposes. It's
possible a skylight will be added.
I
The curb cut will be off Industrial Drive. Two driveways are planned. It was
suggested that Greg Taylor be consulted regarding the closeness of the driveway to
Rt. 28. Parking is above requirements.
White cedar shingles are planned for the front of the building, which also has an
overhang. Barnboard and cedar board will be utilized on the 2 floor. The side of
the building drew comments because of its blankness. It was suggested that
detailing be extended down the side of the building, or the long wall might be
camouflaged by heavy landscaping. It was mentioned that-a sign may occupy up to
10% of the side of the building. It is hoped that Walter Yarosh will be able to review
these plans.
