P. 01
September 20,2004
TO: Clover Landscape
FR: Mary LeBlanc from Mashpee Design Review
RE: Comments on Landscaping species and quantities per submitted plan
1- Please label and date your plan for reference.
2. Please write in the Botanical name and eultivar of the plants being used.
3. Deciduous trees are to be 2.5-3"caliper in size.
4. Evergreen trees(Arborvitaes)are to be 6' min. in size.
5. .lap Yews at entrance are specified at 2' high and l0' o.c.That's going to be fairly
bare in the winter when your perennials and annuals have faded_ I suggest using
at least 6 Yews on each side for a minimum of 12.
6. I don't understand the Alberta Spruce layout at the front of the building with the
new design.
7. Which species of Blueberry are you using? 1 gallon size is too small for Highbush
and I believe Lowbush are typically 2 gallon. You'll want to plant enough
quantity to hold that newly cleared 30%slope. If using Lowbush Blueberry theft
I suggest planting @ 3' o.c.and Highbush @ approx.6'-7' o.c.
8. 1 suggest you add 2 more cedars on the left side(south)and 3 more on the right so
they're S'-9' o.c.over the entire cleared area. 6' nursery cedars are pretty thin
and slow growers,
9. The'slope in back is a 2:1 slope in some areas and you'll need to seed that if
nothing else to prevent erosion. it's also a large cleared area with no vegetation
specified which is pretty unsightly even if it's to your tenants. A Highway slope
mix could be mowed once a year or left to succession.
10. Below the left side wall (south)is an area shown as cleared and regraded. It's
about 60' long and 10' wide or so with a 10-30%slope. Something in that lower
corner to hold the slope and to help the thin buffer would be appropriate.
11. I'm hoping that the cleared vegetation line will actually be closer to the wall all
the way around and reflect this new plan so we won't have so much cleared space
behind the walls as shown. Let's discuss on Thursday.
Cc: Design Review
